Karan Johar's top 10 till date
1. My Name Is Khan
Not a typical Bollywood movie. It’s one of those movies that gets us emotionally attached to the characters. Shahrukh and Kajol superb acting, meaningful storyline, it’s far away from all the stereotypical aspects of a normal Bollywood movie. It passes a strong message to the viewers about race, religion etc and with a touch of entertainment this movie has it all and definitely a must watch.
2. Kal Ho Naa Ho
Though this movie has it’s senseless moments and typical scenes, it still gives you a feeling of being wrapped up in a woolly blanket on a cold night. A tale about finding love, happiness and hope, it’s deeply heart warming with right amount of comedy, romance and of course it has it’s tearjerker moments.
3. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham
K3G is a beautiful movie of bringing the family together. Having equal doses of comedy, emotions, drama and family values Karan has done an amazing job. The movie holds some of the very famous actors of the time and even now, which makes it a great watch for anytime. Greatly recommended if you’re looking for an amusing diversion.
4. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
A movie full of dance numbers it’s a movie you get never tired of watching a million times. A story of two best friends who don’t realize they actually love each until both of them go their separate ways, and reunite few years later. It’s a beautifully portrayed love triangle from start to finish. And the chemistry between Shahrukh and Kajol is one to be not messed with.
5. Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna
The storyline is very different from what the society actually accepts, but nevertheless it’s one of the greatest of Karan Johar. It is an attempt to shake away from the sugar coated romances that is usually potrayed. It’s a movie for those who’s looking for something different.
6. Bombay Talkies (Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh)
You will probably hate this movie, if you’re more into the average Bollywood. A collection of four short movies, Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh was directed by KJo. Not very family kid friendly, it’s about mockery and shallow take on homosexuality. One of his most serious piece of work.
7. Wake Up Sid
Quite a modern movie about a guy who refuses to grow up, something which all of us can relate to. He has no plans of his future but instead takes life as it comes. But he soon realizes for something to take place or start, he’ll need to get out and try and in the midst of all that you might even find something you love. And soon everything will make sense and fall into it’s place.
8. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
YJHD is filled with romance, heart ache, joy and fiery chemistry between the actors. A standard rom-com but also a fresh take on relationships and romance. It has the right touch of cheesy romance, humour, and loads of singing and dancing. In addition, it has a little bit of story that is filled with meaning. Ranbir and Deepika’s on screen chemistry with their light banter is fun and does not go overboard, but at the same is very predictable. What’s a Bollywood movie without a little bit of predictability?
9. Kapoor & Sons
This movie is an entertainer in it’s entirety. It's a family drama at it’s best. It shows that no family is perfect and it has own ups and downs, but at the end, they’re the most important. Revolving around two brothers, who are visiting their family soon realize that their parents marriage is on the rocks, they’re having a financial crisis and it does not end there, the drama continues.
10. Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania
This movie is a modern remake of the famous Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Most people will be quite biased to DDLJ, but trust us when we say this movie has it's moments of action, entertainment and love. There's even a sequel to the movie, Badrinath Ki Dulhania that will release on March 2017.
