9 Daily habits that are a constant DANGER for your kidneys...

The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs, located against the back muscles, in the upper abdominal cavity just below the rib cage, one on each side of the spine. They detoxify the blood and help the body filter the waste products through the urine. Another important function is to remove excess water from the body, but also retain it when necessary. To stay healthy, it is essential for the kidneys to function properly, but there are a number of reasons why kidney problems may occur, many of which are due to habits that people adopt.

1. Do not empty the bladder in time

Keeping the bladder filled for a long time or delaying the urge to urinate is one of the main reasons behind kidney damage. When urine stays in the bladder too long, it can cause the bacteria that reproduce and multiply. In turn, these harmful particles can cause a urinary or kidney infection. In addition, retention increases pressure on the kidneys and can lead to kidney failure or incontinence. If you tend to put up with the urge to urinate, it is time to correct it for the benefit of your kidneys. No matter how busy you are, you must.

2. Not drinking enough water

The main function of the kidneys is to eliminate metabolic waste from the body and regulate the production of erythrocytes. When the body lacks sufficient water, there is less blood flow to the kidneys because it concentrates, which hampers their ability to remove toxins from the body, and may have worse health problems. A healthy adult should drink at least 10 to 12 glasses of water daily to keep the kidneys and body well hydrated. However, overdoing it can also be harmful.

3. High intake of salt

The kidneys metabolize 95% of the sodium consumed through food, but if the intake is too high, they will need to work much more to excrete it. This, in turn, can lead to decreased kidney function, causing fluid retention in the body. This can increase blood pressure and the risk of developing diseases. Studies have shown that salt increases urinary proteins, one of the major risk factors in such conditions. The recommended amount does not exceed 5 grams per day. Keep in mind that one teaspoon of salt already equals 6 grams.

4. Regular use of painkillers

Many of us usually take over-the-counter painkillers to control pain and reduce fever and inflammation, however, this damages different parts of the body, including kidneys. Medications reduce blood flow to the kidneys and impair their functioning. On the other hand, its long-term use can lead to a serious illness called chronic interstitial nephritis. If you are aware that you have kidney problems, do not take pills without consulting your doctor. Even if it is working properly, do not exceed the recommended dose.

5. High protein intake

One of the most important roles of the kidneys is to metabolize and excrete nitrogen by the products of the digestion of proteins. An exaggerated intake increases the metabolic load of these, chronically increasing glomerular pressure and hyperfiltration, which produces serious kidney problems. Therefore, try to limit the consumption of red meat. In fact, those who have a kidney problem should avoid it completely, you can make your condition worse.

Too much coffee is bad too!

6. Consumption of unhealthy drink

Drinking in moderation is not a bad thing, but too much causes significant harm. Unhealthy drinks like liquor is a toxin that puts great stress on the kidneys and liver. When it is consumed in high amounts, it causes the uric acid to be deposited in the renal tubules, leading to a tubular obstruction. In turn, this produces the risk of kidney failure, dehydration, and other kidney-related ailments. If you cannot help it, drink in moderation; In men, it is considered healthy up to 2 unhealthy drinks a day, while 1 for women and the elderly.

7. Too Much Caffeine

Caffeine can cause high blood pressure, which in turn will affect the kidneys. A study published in 2002 in Kidney International said that caffeine consumption has a strong connection with kidney stones because it increases calcium excretion in the urine. In moderate amounts, it does not pose any problem for most people, but you should limit consumption of other sources of caffeine, such as soft drinks, energy drinks, chocolate, cocoa and some medications.

8. Ignore common infections

Ignoring some infections, such as colds, flu, cough, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and others can also cause huge damage to the kidneys. In fact, people with kidney disorders usually do not rest well when they are ill and are more sensitive to climatic changes. Bacteria or viruses that cause infections can damage them if treatment is not done on time. The next time you have a typical ailment, do not take too long to treat it. Take antibiotics properly and rest until you feel better.

9. Insomnia

Because of busy lifestyles, many people ignore the importance of sleep, but it is advisable to sleep at least 6 to 8 hours a day. During the night, renewal of the tissues of the organs takes place, therefore, if you do not sleep enough, the process is interrupted and results in great damage to the kidneys and other organs. Studies suggest that sleepless nights cause high blood pressure and atherosclerosis (clogged arteries), which in turn increases the risk of kidney disease. Adopt a healthy sleep habit and maintain a good balance between work and rest. Protect your kidneys and you can have a healthy life!
