Fans open letters to Bollywood celebs such as Kareena Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachan

Aside from all that and the nice image we all know of her, there was a time when a racist advert for a jewelry brand caught the attention of everyone and made them furious! Fans expressed their anger in an open letter saying: “While advertisers routinely use fantasy images to sell products, they must surely desist from using images that condone, legitimise, normalize, or build a desirable fantasy around slavery or servitude of any kind, including child slavery or child servitude.

Further, the extremely fair color of your skin (as projected in the advertisement) contrasted with the black skin of the slave-boy is obviously a deliberate "creative" juxtaposition by the advertising agency, and insidiously racist. As an influential member of the Indian film industry and a popular star with a large fan following, we trust that you wish to use your image in a manner that promotes progressive thought and action, and would not knowingly promote regressive images that are racist and go against child rights.”
