Meet Karan King, first Indian who got his eyeballs inked!
People decide to have tattoos on their body with different motives. Some are writings to work as a reminder or them. Some tattoo the name of the person they are in love with. For some, it is a picture or a graphic image that they like. As beautiful and exhilarating this may sound, there have been some unfortunate events. It has not been that long that a new tattoo trend is out and it is no part of your body other than your eyeballs! Even thinking about it makes your eyes watery, right?!
Not long ago Catt Gallinger, a Canadian model, decided to get her eyeballs inked and the unfortunate event we all have been thinking about happened to her! She posted a picture of herself where she was crying purple! There was a long message attached to the picture as she was asking everyone to share the post as much as possible so people would see what can possibly happen!

A part of it reads like this: “For everyone inquiring about my eye. So this was done by Eric Brown three weeks ago. As it stands I will have to see a specialist and am at risk of being blind if it doesn't get corrected. This was caused by undiluted ink, over injection, not enough/smaller injections sights. I am NOT sharing this with you to cause trouble, I am sharing this to warn you to research who you get your procedures by as well as how the procedure should be properly done.”
However, the guy who made the tattoo, Eric Brown, believes that what happened to Catt Gallinger’s eyeballs were not his fault. In his email to CBC, he said: “I wholeheartedly believe it wasn't my fault. I told her she needed to get more eye drops that day… She was fine but neglected to get eye drops. My procedure was clean, only two mere injections, with an ink that has been tested, that we know is safe to use in eyes. I told [Gallinger] the risks or what kind of swelling she could expect and she went through with it anyway.”

Despite this heart-wrenching news of the beautiful lady, we still hear people getting their eyes inked and recently we had the first Indian guy with this tattoo! Meet Karan King, first Indian who got his eyeballs inked! Karan himself is a professional tattoo artist and he claims that inking your eyeballs is completely safe if you go to a trusted professional. In his interview with DNA, he has talked about the reason behind his decision.
“I always wanted to get something like this done and thus made sure that I get it done from the person who invented eyeball tattooing a decade back — Howard Smith. Because as a tattoo artist, my eyes are very important to me. I started tattooing almost 12 years back and in all these years have got recognition in the country and abroad for my safe and innovative techniques. My work has got me accolades in the ‘Guinness Book of World Records’ for making the maximum tattoo flags on someone.”

As bizarre as this may sound, looking at his photos, you can actually see that everything is doing fine with his eyeballs! Or at least that is what the eye sees. He said: “If the needle is inside the eye and you move your eyeballs the sclera membrane will tear and the eye can be gone forever. The ink is injected inside the sclera membrane, which is very thin and next to invisible to naked eye at certain spots in particular angles. The level of penetration (has to be) extremely precise because it’s dangerous if over- or underdone.”
The tattoo artist also has some advice to give to the ones who want to go through this procedure: “One has to be 100% certain if he/she wants to go for this life-changing risky procedure on which there is not even any study. We have to sign a legal document which clearly says if there is any disaster -- the artist is not responsible since it’s a hit and try.”
