Rs 5 crore for beheading Deepika Padukone!!!!!!
What is happening in India!?! We are pretty sure that you all have heard about Padmavati controversies and rows that are being reported every single day! Might even have been an eyewitness! But what made our people this furious without even watching the movie!? The female protagonist if the movie and the director are receiving even death threats! They are being treated incredibly violently! There has got to be more to this than only a trailer, don’t you think?!
Here is the timeline of all the controversies surrounding the release of Padmavati!
In January of 2017, after the two painters that were working on the life set of the movie fell from five feet in December 2016, the set of the movie was destroyed by the members of Karni Sena. the protesters went as far as hurting the director of the movie Sanjay Leela Bhansali and also smashed the expensive equipment of the set!
Much more happened in March 2017! The whole set was set on fire at night and why were they so pissed!?! Because they believed that Rani Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji had an intimate scene together!

Right after the posters were released things turn even worse! In September 2017, the first poster of the movie was released which was Deepika’s. The posters were burnt down. Narayan Singh Divrala, district president of the Rajput Karni Sena: “We want him to show the film to the core committee of Shri Rajput Karni Sena and various organizations, including historians, before releasing it. Till then we will not allow the film to be released. If the Karni Sena core committee and historians don’t have any problems only then will we allow screening of the movie.” They even threatened to burn the cinemas down!
In October 2017, Padmavati rangoli was being made in Surat, Gujarat. The hard work of 48 hours by Karan K was demolished in a blink of an eye by five people who were later on arrested by the police! This time, Deepika did not stay quiet! She tweeted: “Absolutely heartbreaking to see the recent attack on artist Karan and his artwork! Disgusting and appalling to say the least!”
Later the released of the movie was asked to go on a temporary hold! BJP wrote the Election Commission to both CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) and Central government.

On November the 3rd, people blocked many roads in order to protest against the release of the movie.
Even though they filed an FIR against Bhansali, the supreme court dismissed the petition.
Gulab Chand Kataria, Home Minister of Rajasthan, constituted a panel so that they could screen the movie to see which points of the movie were different from the historical facts.
Anil Vij, Haryana Health minister, was one of the people who asked for the ban on the movie!
As well as, Maharajkumar Vishvaraj Singh. He said: Allowing commercial interests to override the sanctity of national pride and heritage would be a failure on the part of the government and will not behave well for times to come.”
After the teaser of the movie was released, they even compared Khilji to acid attackers! Vipul Goel, Haryana minister, wrote: “Glamourising Alauddin Khilji’s character was akin to praising those who carry out acid attacks on girls.”

Of course, so many of the authorities and artists meanwhile spoke in favor of the movie but what surprised us all was the fact that the two other actors, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh kept quiet! Later, Ranveer told the media: “I am 200 percent with the film and I stand by it as well as Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Given that it is very sensitive time right now, I have been specifically asked not to say anything. Whatever official communication with regards to the film needs to be made, you will receive it from the producers.”
On November the 9th, Sanjay Bhansali released a video saying: “There is no interaction whatsoever between the characters played by Deepika and Ranveer."
Shahid Kapoor also asked people to give the movie a chance.
In an interview with DNA Deepika said: “As a woman, as an artist, as someone who has worked and given two years of my life to this movie, I feel hurt, I feel angry, but I also think it is extremely funny that people are reacting like this to a film. I am feeling so many emotions at this point.”

What made things worse was her tweet on the 14th! She posted: "It's appalling, it's absolutely appalling. What have we gotten ourselves into? And where have we reached as a nation? We have regressed.”
Right after this, the security guard for her got increased and Karni Sena went with nation-wide strike on December 1 and the release of the movie got postponed to the 1st.
November 19, Abhishek Som, the leader of Meerut-based Thakur said: “Anyone who brings the head of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone will be rewarded with Rs 5 crore. Rani Ma Padmavati had sacrificed her life with 12,000 other women in mass immolation (Jauhar), and Bhansali has raised a question on her courage by showing her in a bad light in his film.”

Suraj Pal Amu also commented: “I want to congratulate the young man from Meerut for announcing Rs.5 crore bounty for beheading Deepika, Bhansali. We will reward the ones beheading them with Rs. 10 crore, and also take care of their family's needs.”
And finally, the release of the movie was delayed with this statement: “Viacom18 Motion Pictures, the studio behind ‘Padmavati’ has voluntarily deferred the release date of the film from December 1st, 2017... We will announce the revised release date of the film in due course.”
