9 Mistakes that most women make while taking SHOWER
The shower: revitalizing in the morning, relaxing at night and pleasant at any time of the day. However, if you repeat again and again in one of the many mistakes that can arise in those moments of tranquillity, you could be causing your hair to be more harmful than healthy. For that reason, if you are looking for a way to enjoy those beautiful moments of bathing and still have strong and healthy hair, do not make some mistakes that maybe you do not even know that you are committing, and check how to solve them.
1. Using very hot water
Have you been washing your hair with very hot water during all this time? Well, if that's the case, you should stop right now. Water at a very high temperature dries the scalp and hair at a much faster rate. If you wish, you can use warm water, as this will open the hair cuticles to maximize the effect of shampoo and conditioner. Also, towards the end of your daily wash routine, you should rinse with cold water at least once. It will close the cuticles and keep the skin hydrated. Those women who use color dye should avoid hot water at all costs, otherwise, the color will disappear much faster. Continue with us to learn more!
2. Not wetting it enough
Many women make the mistake of not leaving enough time for the hair to get wet before starting to apply the shampoo. If you do it for the environment, then we appreciate it greatly. But otherwise, it is a serious mistake of hair washing that you are committing. Before starting to apply the shampoo, you should wash it with running water for at least one or two minutes; this will ensure that you get the most out of it with your conditioner. In the same way, make sure to rinse it properly before leaving the shower if you do not want to cause irritation on the scalp.
3. Using too much shampoo
Most of us believe that if a shampoo does not produce a lot of foam, it is not doing its job. But, did you know that foam does not help at all to get rid of the dirt accumulated in your hair? In fact, it could prevent the shampoo from carrying out its deep cleaning tasks. It is suggested that, for your first wash, try to use a spoonful of shampoo about the size of a two-euro coin. And if you need a second wash later, use a smaller amount than that.
4. Washing hair for 4-5 minutes
Whoever washes their hair in less than 5 minutes (including conditioner) is not doing anything right. It is not necessary to use tons of shampoo on the head and then rinse with cold water. You should take your time and massage the scalp with the tips of your fingers in circular movements. It is recommended that you start doing it from the hairline and then head towards the nape of the neck. This not only helps to create more foam and clean the roots but also improves blood circulation.
5. Forgetting the conditioner
After you wash your head, your scalp will recover its essential oils removed after a short time, but the ends of the hair are likely to become drier. This is the reason why you need to use a good conditioner. Start by first applying it to the lower part of your hair to advance to the middle area. Another advantage of using these products is that it reduces friction and consequent breakage when brushing your hair. Remember to use the conditioner only on the hair; do not rub it on your scalp!
6. Washing your hair daily
Yes, experts suggest that you should wash your hair only every two or three days. But, having said that, we would still point out that it is a good suggestion and not a rule to follow. You are the owner, so wash your hair whenever you think it's needed. However, you should avoid doing it every day. If your scalp becomes greasy despite the shampoo, try to wash it the next day. If not, you can wait one or two days. Obviously, do not wait a week, especially in summer, since you will cause a huge accumulation of dirt.
7. Changing shampoo often
With so many hair care products on the market, it is normal to feel confused. But this does not mean you have to experiment at the expense of the health of your hair by constantly changing a shampoo. Yes, many women feel that their products become less effective after a couple of months, but it has nothing to do with the shampoo itself. Some work better in a particular season since the texture of the hair undergoes changes depending on the moment. Keep this in mind! What you should do is make sure you notice the behavior pattern of your hair and use the proper shampoo. NOTE: you do not need to use the same product for 1 year in a row.
8. Using the towel too vigorously
If we run out from under a hot shower (especially in winter), we feel the temperature differences and feel the cold. Then we vigorously wipe our body with a towel to warm it up and get rid of the remaining water. Dermatologists, however, indicate that haste is not indicated here. Intense rubbing can only additionally dry and irritate our skin. It's better to gently (without friction) and slowly dry our body. In the long run, our skin will only gain advantages from it.
9. Incorrect legs shaving
If you shave your legs immediately after showering, without prior preparation, you increase the risk of ingrown hairs and jams. The skin should be prepared for shaving so that it becomes soft and the shaver changed every 5-7 shaves. An earlier peeling is useful, which can prevent ingrown hairs. Omitting foam or shaving gel is not advised. These preparations have a specific function during shaving - they soften the hair and lift it over the surface of the skin. This reduces the risk of irritation. In addition, the legs shaved this way are definitely smoother when compared to legs shaved dry.
