What are the early symptoms of PREGNANCY?

Some of the future mothers notice the first signs of pregnancy in the first week of fertilization. However, in most women, pregnancy is not known until 4-6. week. What are the earliest signs of pregnancy? What can they be mistaken for? The first signs of pregnancy are as follows: change of well-being, irritability, nausea, vomiting, swelling and pain in the breast, discoloration in the area of the border, hypersensitivity to odors, increased appetite, lack of appetite, drowsiness, insomnia.

1. Mood change and breast pain

A mood swing, anger, irritability can be the result of the enormous effort the body takes to prepare for pregnancy. The emotional ups and downs in the first weeks of pregnancy are primarily responsible for the increase in hormone levels, including estrogen, progesterone, chorionic gonadotropin, prolactin, cortisol, growth hormone, insulin-like growth factor and many others.

One of the very early symptoms of pregnancy is breast enlargement and soreness. Bust becomes sensitive to touch. It may hurt. The breasts are swollen. Transparent blood vessels through the skin. Warts darken. With self-examination, you can feel the bulges. Tenderness of the breast is the result of hormonal changes taking place in the body as a result of fertilization. The cause of breast enlargement and pain may be pregnancy, but it does not have to be.

2. Hypersensitivity to odours

Some women experience hypersensitivity to scents from the first weeks of pregnancy. This sensitivity does not necessarily coincide with previous preferences. It may turn out that the fragrances of perfumes and cosmetics that have been preferred so far become unbearable. The aroma of your favorite food begins to seem repulsive. It is particularly difficult to bear the smell of fumes, gasoline, coffee or cigarette smoke. It is still unknown what the reasons for this extraordinary sensitivity are. Probably nature protects future mothers in this way from food, chemicals and other substances that could harm the developing child.

3. Drowsiness and fatigue

The hormonal storm that occurs in the first month of pregnancy makes the future mother feel as if she was going through an infection. The feeling of weakness, tiredness, and drowsiness teases. Many mothers complain that in the first weeks of pregnancy they fall asleep standing up. Excessive sleepiness may be the first symptom of pregnancy because it is the result of a rapid increase in progesterone in the body. Fatigue results from the fact that internal organs are more heavily burdened.

They must now meet the needs of not only women but also the developing fetus. In the first three months of pregnancy, this development is the most intense, because all the internal organs of a small person are formed. A lot of energy also takes the body to develop a placenta. Often, however, women do not have any symptoms of pregnancy in the first month of its duration and the first signal that a new life is born is just a belated period.

4. Nausea

Morning sickness is the result of a high concentration of chorionic gonadotropin. "HCG hormone is similar to thyroid hormone TSH. It often happens that in the early stages of pregnancy, the features of hyperthyroidism appear, even though the thyroid gland is healthy. Thyroid hormone receptors are stimulated by HCG, hence problems of nausea, malaise, accelerated heart rate, feeling hot, irritability" - explains Dr. Jarosław Kaczyński.

5. Vomiting

Nausea and vomiting are some of the earliest signs of pregnancy. There is no rule, however, and not every expectant mother must feel it. Nausea, vomiting do not always mean that a woman expects a baby. The reason for malaise may be food poisoning, stomach problems, improper diet and even stress. The woman is so afraid that the menstrual period will not appear, or on the contrary, she longs for pregnancy and is afraid of the failure to feel nauseous under stress. Nausea and vomiting resulting from pregnancy usually appear around the 5th week of pregnancy and intensify around the 9th week.

"High levels of progesterone slow down the peristalsis of the digestive tract, meaning everything the mother of the future eats is digested longer. Food stays in the digestive tract longer and in the stomach, and the sphincter, which is on the border of the esophagus and stomach, works worse. There is a mechanical ejection of the food content into the esophagus "- explains Dr. Kaczyński.

6. Period stops

Stopped menstruation is the first symptom that triggers early pregnancy in a healthy, regularly menstruating woman. It is worth remembering, however, that such factors as psychological tension, various emotional states, certain diseases (anemia, acute infectious diseases, diabetes, tuberculosis), climate change, change of work can be a reason for stopped menstruation.
