Misconceptions About Schizophrenia

Unfortunately, there are plenty of misconceptions about the disease. Many people think that being schizophrenic would mean having a split personality or multiple personalities, but that is not the case. Most people with schizophrenia are not any more dangerous or violent than any other person among the general population. Who Is xoradmagical?

xoradmagical or Christopher Gilbert Grant’s TikTok account is already followed by 1.3 million people and some of the videos that he has published have had several million views. In his video, the 25-year-old has revealed that he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, years ago, around 2015/2016 but he began having symptoms aged 16, and also make sure to highlight that what he talks about is his personal experiences and stress that for other people experiences might be much different. He explained how at the beginning of his diagnosis he would hear whispering coming from his university room vents, as well as tapping on windows not caused by branches or wind but by things that were trying to get his attention. Along with that case social outcasting. As Rad explained he used to be a social person but all of a sudden he would end up withdrawing from social life more and more. He has explained that some of the faces that he sees are good, and he calls one of them Chester and an evil one called Bertram.

Schizophrenia Stimulator

To show people what he personally experiences he created drawings of the faces that he sees, which he also often shares on his Instagram. He then took the art and created a simulation so that the viewer can see and hear what he experiences doing simple things such as going for a walk or to the mall. Viewers can hear the kind of voices and whispers that he hears and as he revealed in one of his videos the voices don’t stop and he has learned to tune them out. In order to do that, he has practiced maintaining eye contact so that he can focus on the conversation at hand as at times the voices get so loud that at times they get paralyzing. Xoradmagical created drawings of the faces he sees and designed a simulation so you can see and hear what going for a simple walk or to the mall looks like to him.

Praise For His Work

Many people on his TikTok page, where he often answers questions with regards to his disorder, praise Rad for the simple way that he explains what life is like for him and for educating other people about something they have no idea about. Others had also pointed out that through him talking through the condition, he is helping remove the stigma around schizophrenia.

Negative Comments

However, despite the praise that Rad had been getting, some internet users didn’t agree with what he was doing. On one Reddit thread, several users had pointed out that they feel invalid with their schizophrenia diagnosis because they were not experiencing the same things that Rad was experiencing, that they weren’t necessarily seeing faces or hearing voices. Other’s had criticized the videos claiming that they were an over-exaggeration of schizophrenia, which leads to many misconceptions about the disorder. However, as Rad himself had said in countless of his video, his videos and simulations are only a reflection of what he himself experiences, highlighting that everyone is different.
