Speaking with the publication they said: “Although she was an accomplished teenager with a bright future ahead of her, unfortunately in one impetuous moment, she made the rash decision to end her earthly life." No further information was given as to what could have driven Kailia to end her life. They have since set up a fund at the Whatcom Community Foundation in her name. Its goal is to provide resources to help students in crisis.
Toddlers and Tiara’s Criticism
Since the very beginning, the TLC show has been cloaked in controversy. Much distaste for the show had come from the concerns about whether the popularization of such shows was feeding into the mothers’ desire for attention. Others had voiced concerns about the insensitivity of filming and then televising kids in the middle of meltdowns or temper tantrums. One of the stars that got the most criticism was none other than Honey Boo Boo. The family had faced much criticism over the years and among those things was giving Honey a mixture of Mountain Dew and Red Bull which they called Go Go Juice. Though some had pointed out that while some think that child beauty pageants are just a chance for little girls to play dress-up, there are also those who think it is a training ground for superficial, self-centered women in the making. And those also agree that such shows sexualize toddlers, one of the reasons being the fact that back in 2011 TLC released footage of a 3-year-old contestant dressed as the prostitute played by Julia Roberts in the 1990 film "Pretty Woman. Others had also brought up the murder of JonBenét Ramsey as a reason why such competitions are dangerous for little girls.
